Commission: Meanwhile in Universe B

Best commission ever.
I couldn't think of anyone else that would ever commission such a thing and it was such great fun.
Basically, the concept for this picture is Jackie (the stalwart sane one), Keyla (the hardcore rebel), Callie Joann (the sees-the-best-in-everyone sweetie pie), Sophia (the spoiled rich brat) and Megan (the girl no one could pick out in a line-up of one)... only personality reversed.
Normally, when people do these "opposite meme" type of pictures, they just make them evil and arrogant and Disney villain-ish... missing the point of the whole thing. Take the core concept of the character and flip it on reverse. Everyone has a different view of what traits are most core to a character, so this is my interpretation of opposites.

So, you'll notice that I didn't draw in any DVD covers or the portrait in the back... I was tired. But the picture in the background was a great idea and helped me bring the picture together. It was also kind of symbolic: the first picture Frank ever asked for and a testament to how far I've come along on my journey as an illustrator.

Basically, my idea is this. This universe's Jackie is really lucky. She won the Pathfinder in the photo and got her the sweet ride, but it didn't stop there. Not until she won her some real money. The large influx of money makes her more lazy and carefree. She's you'll cool rich friend, who hangs around in lazy slob clothes. Keeps a cat because they're low maintainance. CJ is crippled by middle sibling syndrome and gone full on emo. Distrusting "friends" because everyone has an ulterior motive. RJ is the older sister, always getting in trouble and thus attention and JQ is the youngest sister and getting in trouble and thus attention. Where does that leave CJ? Who cares, she'll just hang with these guys until they betray her... like everyone does.
Keyla is done with rebellious antics and cares about community and government now. She realizes that money and insight can do a lot more in the way of changing the world works than throwing up the horns and spray-painting obscenities on neighbour's garage doors (they dropped the charges, 'kay?) Keyla is an active member of neighbourhood watch and town hall and is trying to drag all her pals down the same path. Not happening.
Sophia tried being the spoiled rich girl but after seeing Jackie crash and burn, she turning over a new leaf in the most extreme way. Fully clad in her bohemian attire, she shuns cash and volunteers everywhere. Her gilded heart is now a bleeding heart and she has little time for her friends, even now, she's leaving the picture to go help at a soup kitchen.
Megan on the other hand, she got the most simple deal. No one knows you, now you're the #1 "it girl". Popular to the max, Megan can't escape the attention. It gets tiresome to tweet and blog about the current shade of lip gloss you're wearing only to find everyone wearing it the next day. Meg likes to chill with the only girls who aren't trying to syphon her style! Deep down, she's still lonely.

This was the best commission EVER. I had so much fun with it.
Also, I'm making a big 'ol effort to fill my backgrounds with more joy and activity! So there's cat scratches everywhere (hello, I have cats) and cans and bottles lying all over the place and cat toys that have never been touched (I said, I HAVE CATS). I also made that wallpaper using patterns, and now I love it and will probably make more patterns!
