So, 2014 was a very busy year for me! I want to apologize to all my friends for being inactive but I had good reasons! I was getting lots of comic work done and it looks really good for 2015! I can't wait to see all these things in print!
I really want to get more active here and have a bit of fun. One way will definitely be getting a group started up, I have a ton of ideas not even going into the ones in the works now. If you'd be interested joining an RP group about:
* detective agencies in a fairytale setting,
* post-apocalyptic scavengers with tanks
* Indiana Jones-style treasure hunters
* survivor-styled game show
...let me know in the comments!
Here is a bit more information on the stuff I have been working on!
The real cases of the writer's great-grandfather, a Cleveland detective with some pretty damn exciting cases! I have such a great time with drawing this and can't wait to see it all made into a book!
No links available yet, but I'll be sure to inform anyone who wants to be when things are made available.
A reality show styled comic about broad character competed in a television show to be Valedictorian USA, with all the usual backstabbing, in-fighting, drama and alliances that reality TV always serves up! It's really funny and I had a great time doing issue 5! The trade paperback is actually available now:
Gamer Girl & Vixen
A new comic by the amazingly talented Kristi McDowell and Sean Ian Mills. It's a supervillain lesbian love story where the protagonists are the titular Gamer Girl & Vixen, two fledgling villains who fall for each other and hi-jinks ensue. They are adorable together and have such silly silly banter.
Here are some links to keep people interested updated!
And now, a meme! Stolen off of
1: What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before?
Hold a printed comic sample made by me.
2: Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I can't remember what they were last year but they probably sucked and I probably kept them. I bet they were all like "be active and meet new pals" -- yeah, aced it. Kinda. Sure I will, and they totally won't suck!
3: Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not that I know of.
4: Did anyone close to you die?
Indigo. : (
5: What countries did you visit?
None. Now, if you'd said COUNTIES I might have been able to answer that because I traveled down to London.
6: What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
...a blue parka? No, I don't know.
7: What dates from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
12-13th July -- because me and went to the London Film & Comic-con together
12th November -- because me and went to see WWE Raw in Newcastle
4th December -- because me and saw Peter Gabriel live in concert
31st December -- because I met who is just the best!
8: What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting three good, solid comic art gigs!
9: What was your biggest failure?
Losing my temper with a commissioner who did not pay and I wanted to end my dealings with. It was nothing against the guy but I have a lot of proper jobs and don't have the time to dedicate to something that I was getting a small fraction of what I was already getting elsewhere and only after I had finished a substantial amount of work.
10: Did you suffer illness or injury?
I'm kinda sick now. Cold or something. Other than that not really. I'm actually pretty badass, not to brag.
11: What was the best thing you bought?
12: Whose behaviour merited celebration?
, without a doubt. What a superstar.
Kristi and Sean have been amazing and so awesome. Kind and easy-going and great for a laugh. They're like the best "cool bosses" a gal could ever want. Robbie was a real trooper getting his comic noticed, and it really really deserved all it got and more. He was so intelligent with his promotion that it deserves to be mentioned.
13: Whose behaviour made you appalled?
C and B. They were pretty scummy and duplicitous. Although, watching them fail like a more inept Team Rocket brought me much joy. M really ruined my Secret Santa experience. I cannot express how much that disappointed me.
14: Where did most of your money go?
Christmas and I regret nothing! I swear, a chart would look dull and low until December which would be up in the stars!!
15: What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Christmas, a lot. Early January when I picked up Sugar to bring her home. And the convention. It was my first one and I was DEAD excited for it, and for good reason: IT WAS AWESOME.
16: What song will always remind you of 2014?
Meghan Trainor - All About That Base.
For whatever reason, it was really trendy to hate on skinny girls in 2014 and this one sticks in my mind.
17: Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c) richer or poorer?
b) probably the same?
c) Richer (a little)
18: What do you wish you’d done more of?
Exercise. Not to lose weight or anything, to get badass. I kinda want to be able to punch things.
19: What do you wish you’d done less of?
Being a grumpy cow. It takes up so much time and effort.
20: How did you spend Christmas?
With lots of money on food, presents and joy. Surprises for all the family and even the friends who live nearby!
21: Did you fall in love in 2014?
22: What was your favourite TV program?
23: Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
24: What was the best book you read?
DC's Guide to Writing Comic Books by Dennis O'Neil -- I've read it several times now and it's amazing.
25: What was your greatest musical discovery?
Dean Winchester playlists on 8tracks.
26: What did you want and get?
Comic jobs, a dog, to go to a convention, to go to a concert, to see live wrestling, more Arrow, The Flash, Rogues on my television, to get Lily and Jolanta presents, to have a kickass Christmas, to get a Wii U for the family
27: What did you want and not get?
A little less stress, maybe? It was a really good year.
28: What was your favourite film of this year?
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
29: What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Success. It made everything worthwhile. Every nasty comment or "shouldn't you get a proper job" comment evaporate into nothing because I got my first foot in. I intend to break through but knowing that I could do it because I did, made my life have so much more meaning.
30: How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
DAMN FABULOUS. Red is always in fashion, jeans are forever in style, and I rocked all kinds of earrings: big pink stars, hot pink lightning bolts, glittery stars, and Riddler question mark earrings. RIDDLER EARRINGS. MY LIFE IS OFFICIALLY COMPLETE, PEOPLE.
31: What kept you sane?
Dumbass sisters and jackass dogs.
32: Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None, this year. Try harder!
33: What political issue stirred you the most?
Stirred is way to strong a word but I was interested in the Scotland independence stuff while it was going on.
34: Who did you miss?
Indy. I still have dreams where she's prancing about and sleeping.
35: Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014.
Surprising people with those gifts on Christmas was the best idea I ever had and I think it brightened a lot of peoples days. If everyone did some little something for a someone, the world would be a much happier place!
36: Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
It's been assumed I'm soft or irrelevant
Cause I refuse to down play my intelligence
Dessa - The Bullpen
